From the CEO
As DB Foods reached its milestone anniversary, we asked Chief Executive, Gary Smith, to share his thoughts with us and what he thinks it means for the business.
After giving it some thought, DB Foods turning 30 this year has similarities to how I remember feeling when I did the same. Part of me felt I had established myself, knew the path I was on and I suddenly felt I had earned a respect you sometimes struggle to get when you are in your twenties, while the other part was excited by what was in store for the years ahead.
By the time you reach 30, you have tried out a few styles, jobs and relationships, and while you know you will always have more to learn, you feel more confident and proud of yourself. I think there is a strong sense of that in the business right now.
The business has always adapted and evolved and none more than in the past year: the expansion and development of our logistics and transport hub in Banbury; the training and provision for the increased work involved in importing products from Europe; and creating a brand and presence in the industry that reflects what we have achieved.
DB Foods has never looked or, just as importantly, felt better. There has always been a camaraderie and team spirit within the business that I think has been shared and recognised in the past year with both new and existing customers.
As we continue to demonstrate our commitment and support to our butchers in the meat retail industry and welcome back our catering and hospitality clients, it does feel that the celebration is more than about just turning 30, it’s about the strength and position three decades has given us and having been able to help and offer service to those who need it.
Oh, and cake! Whoever and whatever is turning 30, its always a great excuse for cake!
