Over the past couple of years, we have really focused on developing our food sundries range for high street butchers. From mixes, marinades, and glazes, to packaging, bags, and gloves, we have tested, evaluated and stand by every item we offer as a butchers’ sundries supplier.
‘The two big hits from our butchers’ sundries range in the past year have been packaging and our ranges of seasoning,’ says Amanda Wass, New Business Development Manager for DB Foods’ food sundries. ‘Our recyclable seal and fresh bags and compostable carrier bags have proved really popular with both our customers and, in turn, theirs’.
In an industry that is often the first in the firing line when it comes to environmental impact, DB Foods’ range of packaging is one way the company can signal its awareness and contribution towards the green agenda.
‘Since we have been able to provide this environmentally friendly packaging alternative, the vast majority of our butchers have chosen to embrace it,’ says Amanda, and the evidence can be seen through the many pictures sent in by our customers, some even using the packaging in their window display!
The other topical issue that DB Foods has addressed in its meat sundries range is that of food intolerance and allergies. In 2022, the company announced a partnership with the European leader in ‘allergen-safe’ seasoning, ‘Dutch Spices’ and now proudly offers customers a variety of seasonings for a variety of dietary requirements including lactose and gluten free. Brand new products have recently been launched, which has further expanded our butchers’ sundries range.
A second partnership with UK company, Middleton Foods, supplies DB Foods’ food sundries range with a variety of gluten-free glazes for all meats.
‘When it comes to food intolerances, meat should be celebrated as an allergen-friendly food source,’ says Sarah Waddle, Sales Manager for butchers’ sundries. ‘The fact that we can now supply our butchers with ingredients to create lactose and gluten free meals to sell in their shops (or directly to their customers) helps the perception of the high street butcher as an inclusive and supportive space in which to shop.’
‘We are proud of our butcher sundries range and its contribution to our ‘Support Your Local Butcher’ initiative,’ says CEO Gary Smith. ‘We are constantly listening, considering and growing what we offer our butchers to help keep their businesses at the heart of their communities.’
