With over 15 years’ senior management experience across logistics, processing and sales in the food sector, the Paramount Retail Group is delighted to welcome its first of a series of new talent acquisitions since acquiring DB Foods, Commercial Manager Steven Marshall.
Steven built his career at Dunbia, where he spent 14 years shaping major retail partnerships with customers including Fresh Cook, Samworth Brothers, 2 Sisters, Oscar Mayer and Caledonian Foods. He went on to lead Dunbia’s supply into Sainsbury’s as Commercial Manager, before stepping up again to drive long-term strategic growth with Lidl as Senior Commercial Manager.
“Building these high-profile commercial relationships was hugely rewarding,” Steven recalls. “However, after the COVID lockdowns, like a lot of people, I wanted a new chapter and fresh start, so after 14 years I left Dunbia in 2022 to lead the operations of a family business, Butlers Farmhouse Cheeses in Lancashire.”
After the pandemic, Steven sought a new direction and joined Butlers Farmhouse Cheeses as Head of Operations — where he became part of the leadership team that rebuilt its entire 60,000 sq ft production facility in only three months following a catastrophic fire. It was a moment that tested resilience, teamwork and innovation at the highest level.
“After steering through the intensity of that period, I wanted a fresh challenge where ambition matched opportunity,” Steven says. “DB Foods is a business I’ve admired for years. When I spoke to the Paramount Retail Group, their vision was clear: invest, expand, modernise and push for market leadership. It was exactly the kind of journey I wanted to join.”
