DB Foods Rated AA+ by BRC
Directors of one of the UK’s leading meat suppliers, DB Foods, are delighted to share the achievement of a BRC AA+ award following an unannounced food safety audit of its Dorset facilities by the British Retail Consortium (BRC).
Having achieved the top AA rating for a number of years, DB Foods’ facility in Poole received an impromptu visit by the BRC on 24 June 2024 and, after thorough inspection, was awarded the highest possible rating for its levels of food safety, traceability and quality.
The accreditation is testimony to the calibre and hard work of recent signings to DB Foods’ Management Team, particularly Michael Wood who was appointed as Head of Technical in February 2023. With over 30 years’ experience in the food industry, over half of which have been leading corporate food safety and quality, Michael has worked across a variety of different categories including raw and cooked meat, food-to-go and dairy.
Earlier this year, DB Foods also welcomed industry heavyweight, Paul Hughes as Site Director. Having spent over 40 years in operations roles for major food suppliers across the UK and Ireland, Paul brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to DB Foods’ production facilities.
“A BRC AA+ certification is the most prestigious any company in our industry could hope to attain,” says CEO, Gary Smith. “It could not have been achieved without the leadership, culture and dedicated staff we have at DB Foods, and there is a palpable sense of pride across the business from knowing we have met, and are operating at the highest industry standards. This achievement epitomises the values of the business with integrity being a key component – doing the right thing even when no one is watching. The unannounced audit regime is a testament to this principle and the double AA+ rating echoes our mantra as a food production business you can trust.
